Theft From Motor Vehicles

Residents are being reminded to take care when leaving vehicles unattended following recent reports in the area of theft of items from motor vehicles.

Thieves may take advantage of vehicles that are left unlocked or with items on display. Even items that appear to have little value can attract attention and result in damage to a vehicle.

Please remember:

Always lock your vehicle, even if you are leaving it for a for a few minutes

Do not leave valuables on display - including bags , coats, wallets, sat-navs, phones laptops or shopping.

Remove items from view, even if you think they are not valuable. An empty - looking vehicle is less attractive to thieves.

Before you leave your vehicle, take a moment to look around and make sure nothing else has been left behind that could attract unwanted attention.

Vehicle crime can cause considerable inconvenience and distress. Working together, residents and police can help prevent opportunities for thieves.

If you see something suspicious report it to the Police.

Phone 999 - if a crime is happening now or there is an immediate risk

Phone 101 - for non-emergency police enquiries or to report a crime.

Local Police Team will continue to patrol the area and work with residents to prevent incidents.
